Blood transfusion in UAE gets comment from WHO
Dubai, Dec 21, 2008 (WAM) - The World Health Organisation (WHO) and other international organisations in the field have praised the pioneering role of the UAE Health Ministry in developing the blood transfusion programme in the country.
Various organisations and societies who participated in an international conference on safe blood transfusion recently held in Geneva said that UAE is undoubtedly on a leading role in developing safe system for blood transfusion.
Earlier in 2006 the WHO chose UAE as the regional centre for blood transfusion services in the Middle East. Dr Ameen Al Amiri was elected by the World Health Organisation as Director for the East Mediterranean region, for 2006-2010.
