UAE's participation in Euro-Arab Dialogue Confab is civil message: Al-Owais
Vienna, Dec 21, 2008 (WAM) - Minister of culture and Community Development, Abdul Rahman Mohammed Al-Owais, has said that the message presented by the UAE through its participation in the Euro-Arab Dialogue Conference was a civil and exemplary one which stemmed from the country's values, principles, heritage and history, adding that the message reflects the peaceful coexistence among more than 200 nationalities of various religion, creed, race and culture, but living and working peacefully together in the UAE.
Al-Owais who was speaking to the Emirates News Agency (WAM) before the final session of the conference held here at the Hofburg Imperial Palace said the existing peaceful co-existence in the UAE society was the best example of how security and stability can be achieved and boosted through understanding, mutual respect and positive interaction based on a number of common factors.
"I can affirm to you that the participation of the UAE in this conference derives its great importance from the fact that the opening session was attended by a large number of Arab and European foreign ministers, senior officials, experts, representatives of government and non-governmental organisations, Muslim and Christian leaderships. This high-level participation is an important message that reaffirms the need to boost constructive dialogue and the importance of Europe playing an effective role in supporting just Arab causes, particularly the Palestinian cause," Al-Owais said.
He stressed the need for joint Arab-European actions in a way that would serve the mutual interest of the two sides and boost the efforts of building bridges and positive dialogue between Europe and the Arab world in various areas, including political, economic, social and cultural areas.
