Final touches being given to Taj, Trident for reopening

Mumbai, Dec 20 (PTI) Final touches are being given to the
Taj and Trident Hotels, sites of the November 26 terror
strikes, as they prepare to welcome guests again after their
grand reopening.

As the heritage Taj Palace and the Trident continue to
undergo renovations, employees are working frenetically to
prepare the two other buildings (Tower Wing and Oberoi) for
guests who are expected to stream in from Sunday.

The number of bookings have not been revealed by the
management of both hotels but the Taj would be opening 268
rooms in its Tower Wing, including nine suites. The Trident
would make available 550 guest rooms and suites.

Neither of the hotels has made any significant reductions
in their fares but the Taj is offering a 15 percent festive
season discount on some of its rooms.

The hotels are also expected to introduce new security
measures. Ratan Tata-managed Taj has announced they would
bring in new measures to counter possible terror strikes in
the future. Hotel officials were, however, tight-lipped on the
measures.

Despite opening for the festive season the hotels have
decided not to host Christmas or New Year Eve parties.

"We are not having any celebrations. The hotel is not
making any bookings for Christmas or New Year Eve parties
because it was in mourning (for the dead and injured)," an
employee at the Trident told PTI.

However, the culinary feasts and shopping facilities will
continue to be available at both luxury hotels. PTI AG
