Cambodian military delegation visits Vietnam
Can Tho (VNA) - A delegation from the Cambodian Royal Army's Infantry Command has
arrived on a working visit to Vietnam 's southwestern localities and will join
celebrations marking the 64th establishment anniversary of the Vietnam People's Army
on Dec. 22.
The delegation was received by Son Song Son, Deputy Head of the Southwestern
Region's Steering Board, in Can Tho city on Dec. 19.
Son briefed the delegation on socio-economic development in the region and the
lives of local residents, who include more than 1 million Khmer ethnic people.
Son stated that the Vietnamese Party and State have been always paid due attention
to developing the economy and improving the living conditions for the nation's
ethnic minorities, as well as assisting them in maintaining and preserving their
cultural treasures and heritage.
Son also informed the guests that the number of poor ethnic families in the
southwestern region has been steadily reducing and that their children are provided
with a decent standard of education.
The cultural traditions and customs of the Khmer group, as well as the Cham and
Chinese groups have been preserved and upheld through their colourful festivals
that are organised throughout the year.-Enditem
