Leadership credited for AFC Congress success

Manama, May 1 (BNA): Youth and Sport Affairs Minister Hesham bin Mohammed Al-Jowdar has extended sincere congratulations to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, on the success of the AFC Congress. The minister said that the sound directives of the leadership on the need to mobilise all efforts to ensure an excellent organisation of AFC Congress had ensured the success of the Asian sports gathering, which projected the kingdom's bright image and reaffirmed its distinguished status in this field. Al Jowdar also paid similar tribute to His Majesty the King's Representative for Charity Work and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sport Chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee President Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa for his support to the kingdom's hosting of AFC Congress, and all AFC programmes and plans. He affirmed that Shaikh Nasser's address to AFC Congress was full of noble goals, and stressed the need for unity among the members of the Asian football community in order to bring about more success and further promote football across the continent. The minister congratulated Shaikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa for his re-election uncontested for a new four-year term, expressing confidence in his ability to build on his success over the past two years and achieve more successes at all levels. He also congratulated him on the outstanding success of AFC Congress and the numerous resolutions that resulted from it. He highlighted the importance of the Kingdom's hosting of AFC Congress, in the presence in key international sports figures, particularly FIFA President, in placing Bahrain in the global sports map, and putting Bahrain under spotlight throughout the event as international media outlets were covering AFC Congress and waiting for its resolutions.
