BOC member praises AFC president's re-election

Manama, May 1 (BNA): Member of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) Shaikh Abdulla bin Rashid Al Khalifa has affirmed that the re-election of Shaikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa un-opposed, as President of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) and FIFA Vice-President for Asia, reflects AFC's Congress' confidence in his leadership. He asserted that such a prestigious post is a new achievement for the Bahraini sport, in particular, and the Arab one, in general. Shaikh Abdulla added that the election of a Bahraini sports figure to the presidency of one of the major football associations in the world is a living proof of the numerous competencies Bahrain boasts in all fields thanks to the constant support of the leadership. He pointed out that the distinguished position enjoyed by Shaikh Salman at the international level is a source of pride for the sports community in Bahraini. He extended sincere congratulations to Shaikh Salman and wished him further success. He also praised the kingdom's excellent organisation of AFC's Congress, which, he said, reflects Bahrain's outstanding capabilities in hosting mega sports gatherings.
