HRH Premier directs to ensure imported fruit safety

Manama, Apr. 30 (BNA): His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa has ordered to toughen control measures in the kingdom's exits, intensify inspection campaigns in markets and take the necessary precautionary measures regarding fruits. He also issued orders to conduct examination of samples of imported fruits, particularly watermelon, and stop the importation of fruits proven inappropriate for consumption, or those containing materials that may affect the citizens' health. HRH Premier issued directives to the competent sides responsible for food products' safety to exchange information with their counterparts in the Gulf Cooperation (GCC) countries. HRH the Prime Minister instructed the Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning, the Ministry of Industry and Commerce and the General Directorate of Customs at the Ministry of Interior to take all the measures mentioned above immediately.
