Arabian Gulf history, antiquities in focus

Manama, Apr.29 (BNA) The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Society for History and Archaeology has today convened its 16th scientific forum in Bahrain.
Isa Cultural Centre (ICC) Board of Trustees’ Chairman Shaikh Abdulla bin Khalid Al-Khalifa is patronizing the two-day symposium at the InterContinental Regency Hotel in Manama.
The GCC Society for History and Archeology is holding the 16th edition of the forum in cooperation with the University of Bahrain.
The symposium has attracted specialists, historians, academic figures and researchers from the GCC member states to discuss the research papers.
Bahrain University Vice President for Scientific Research, Head of the Preparatory Committee Dr. Ali Mansour Ali Al-Shehab said that more than 120 researchers and academic figures specialized in history and archaeology from the GCC universities are taking part in the symposium.
He said that the 16th edition focuses particularly on the history of the Arabian Gulf region, stressing major changes and defining moments which left a lasting impact though successive eras.
ICC Board of Trustees’ Deputy Chairman, Executive Director Dr. Shaikh Khalid bin Khalifa Al-Khalifa moderated the first session which feature four research papers and case studies.
In a statement to Bahrain News Agency (BNA), UoB President Dr. Ibrahim Mohammed Janahi expressed his delight at host the 16th scientific forum in Bahrain, stressing support to the conference and the GCC) Society for History and Archaeology.
He commended the scientific of research papers which revisit important eras of the history of the Arabian Gulf region, stressing the importance the GCC history, authenticity and Arab identity.
