King deputises Shaikh Nasser to open Arab Athletics Championship

Manama, Apr.23 (BNA)His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa has today deputised his Representative for Charity Works and Youth Affairs His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al-Khalifa to open the 19th Arab Athletics Championship. HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al-Khalifa extended deep thanks to HM the King for deputizing him to open the pan-Arab championship, describing the key tournament as reflecting Bahrain's pivotal role in hosting such sporting events. HH Shaikh Nasser affirmed Bahrain's keenness on ensuring the success of the championship, stressing the Kingdom's credentials in hosting sport tournaments owing to its organisational expertise and outstanding sport facilities. He underlined the importance of the event as a platform to cement pan-Arab bonds of fraternity and amity and further develop athletics in the Arab World. HH Shaikh Nasser paid tribute to Supreme Council for Youth and Sport (SCYS) First Deputy President, Bahrain Athletics Association (BAS) Chairman HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al-Khalifa for the outstanding organisation, wishing all the Arab teams success in the tournament. Arab Athletics Federation President Salman bin Awadh Al-Zaydi and Championship Executive Committee Chairman Mohammed Abdullatif bin Jalal addressed the opening ceremony hailing the royal patronage.
