Speaker meets Indonesian counterpart

Jakarta, Apr.23 (BNA) Council of Representatives Speaker Ahmed bin Ibrahim al-Mulla has today met Indonesian Parliament President Dewan Perwakilan Rakyat and discussed bilateral relations, stressing keenness on bolstering joint economic and investment cooperation and boosting the volume of trade exchanges.
MPs Abbas Al-Madhi, Abdulrahman Boumajeed and Ahmed Qarata attended the meeting on the sidelines of the Asia-Africa Parliamentary Conference, which opened in Jakarta, Indonesia. The Speaker stressed Bahrain's efforts to combat the scourge of terrorism in cooperation with the international community. He pointed out the presence of small home-grown terrorist groups which threaten Bahrain's national unity and seek to erode its social cohesion and derail the democratic march.
He stressed the importance of respecting the sovereignty and independence of the Kingdom and rejected blatant foreign interference, commending Indonesia for its stance in support of Bahrain's efforts to combat terrorism.
The Speaker underlined the developments in the Arab World and the Arabian Gulf region, stressing particularly the current situation unfolding in Yemen. He pointed out that the Operation Decisive Storm, which won the backing of the UN Security Council, aims at protecting the region's security and stability.
He expressed the hope that Syria could regain its security and stability, stressing the importance of achieving comprehensive, just and lasting peace in the Middle East and establishing the Palestinian State with Al-Quds with its capital in compliance with the international resolutions.
