SCE CEO receives GCC-Turkish delegation

Manama, Apr. 15 -- (BNA): The Supreme Council for the Environment (SCE)'s CEO Dr. Mohammed Mubarak Bin Daina received a delegation from Turkey and representatives of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states and briefed them on the Kingdom's experience in fighting oil spills and capability of receiving ships waste. He stressed the keenness of the Supreme Council for the Environment, led by HH Shaikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Khalifa, on boosting cooperation and coordination in the light of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the GCC countries and the Turkish Republic in September 2008. He also outlined before the delegation the phases of preparation, updating and approval of the National Plan for Combating Oil Spills and other harmful substances as well as previous practical drills implemented to test the efficacy of the plan, wishing them a successful outcome of their visit, looking forward to consolidation of the bilateral cooperation ties between Bahrain and Turkey related to environmental issues, oil spills and maritime incidents. The combined GCC-Turkish delegation visited the Bahrain Petroleum Company (Bapco) to familiarize with the company's experience and capabilities of fighting oil spills.
