Manama, Apr. 15 (BNA): The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) said it recently published a second public consultation on its website (http://tra.org.bh) regarding the regulatory code for registration of mobile telecommunications services subscribers data.
According to this consultation, operators licensed as per the new regulatory code should follow the registration process more accurately for all subscribers of the prepaid mobile telecommunication services as well as for subscribers according to post-paid bills and should verify their relevant data more optimally to protect the interest of all subscribers and to maintain their privacy.
"Following the first round of public consultation regarding the regulatory code for registration of particulars of subscribers of the prepaid mobile telecommunications services and after consideration of responses received by TRA from the relevant parties to this consultation," the Director of TRA's Cybersecurity Directorate, Dr. Shaikh Khalid bin Duaij Al Khalifa said, "the Authority decided that the dangers threatening the privacy and security of subscribers is not confined to the prepaid mobile telecommunication services only".
Therefore the Authority decided to carry out further essential modifications to the published draft regulatory code to ensure the protection of subscribers interests in all types of mobile telecommunications services, which necessitated the conducting of a second round of the public consultation in order to obtain the responses and remarks of the relevant parties regarding the new regulation, he added.
