Yemen re-condemns piracy`s acts

NEW YORK, Dec. 17 (Saba) - Yemen said that the current acts of piracy off Somali and Aden Gulf are new threats on security of the navigation in the key sea roads.

In Yemen's speech to the UN Security Council, the Yemeni representative to the
United Nations Abdullah al-Saidi renewed condemnation of Yemen for piracy's acts
against ships.

"Yemen is consulting with countries of Red Sea and international community over
growing phenomenon of piracy and means of bring an end for it," al-Saidi said.

He confirmed support for the international and regional efforts to combat this
phenomenon and importance of complying with international rules of the law
associated with respecting sovereignty of countries and their regional waters.

Al-Saidi said that Yemen manages to protect its regional waters and ready to
cooperate with countries to insure security and stability for the international
navigation, calling for offering technical and financial support to countries
affected by this phenomenon to enhance capacities of their coastguards.

He added that such problem affects negative on the economy of Yemen.

"Establishment of regional center in Yemen to exchange information on piracy and
offer technical and financial support to the country will help in coordinating
regional and international efforts to combat the piracy and armed looting," he said.
In the Yemeni speech, al-Saidi asked the international community to offer further
attention to build corporations of the central Somali state.
