Manama, Apr. 13 (BNA): The Director of Public Health in the Ministry of Health, Dr. Mariam Al-Hajeri, said the ministry is keen to keep abreast with latest local, regional and international developments in line with the International Immunization Initiative under the slogan "filling the gap of immunization and completion of vaccinations".
She said that following the recommendations of the World Health Organisation (WHO)'s Regional Office for the Middle East and the recommendations of the Kingdom of Bahrain's Immunization Committee, routine vaccinations are regularly updated in the light of latest developments. The Public Health Directorate in the Ministry will introduce the "smallpox" vaccine for children and expand preventative anti-hepatitis (B) vaccine to include all neonates at the time of birth which once used to be given to 2-months old infants.
