Pak examining pact with India on airspace violations: Qureshi
Islamabad, Dec 17 (PTI) Pakistan Wednesday said it was
examining a 1991 agreement with India on airspace violations
over the alleged intrusion by Indian fighter jets, days after
downplaying the purported incident as a "technical incursion".
Islamabad was going through the 1991 agreement to "take
appropriate action through due process of law" with regard to
the two recent "intrusions" by Indian jets, Foreign Minister
Shah Mehmood Qureshi told a press conference here.
Indian Air Force spokesman Wing Commander Mahesh Upasani
had rubbished the Pakistani claim and said there had not been
any violation of the Pakistani airspace.
Qureshi's remarks came despite President Asif Ali Zardari
saying that it was a "technical incursion."
"Incursions do happen," Zardari said on Sunday, adding
that the planes were flying at about 40,000 ft to 50,000 ft
when they executed a turn that "slightly entered Pakistan
soil."
"It is not an incursion as such. It is a technical
incursion," he said.
Pakistan Air Force spokesman Air Commodore Humayun
Viqar Zephyr too had described the purported incident as a
"technical incursion of a minor nature made by mistake". PTI
