British singer/songwriter to perform in Bahrain

Manama, Apr. 8 -- (BNA): Acclaimed British artiste Joss Stone will perform at Arad Fort this weekend, as part of the on-going 2015 Spring of Culture Festival activities. Stone, who was awarded Grammy and Brit Awards for her music, will perform a selection of her most popular songs to crowds on Friday April 10. The soul singer will be performing in Bahrain as part of her world tour, which included performances in the US, South Africa, Morocco, Tunisia, Mauritius, UAE, Australia, and New Zealand in 2014. This year, Stone performed in a number of countries including Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay and Chile, which is part of her goal of performing in over 200 countries around the globe. The 27-year-old proved her talents as a singer, songwriter and actress early on and she has been recognised for having one of the world’s unique voices, with over 14 million albums sold worldwide. Her new album, ‘Water for your Soul’ will be released this summer and includes reggae, hip-hop, and soul sounds as well international music reflecting her recent travels and tour destinations. It includes collaborations with the likes of Nitin Sawney, Damian Marley and Dennis Bovell. Stone is also known for her humanitarian efforts, and she has worked with numerous international charities, including supporting Prince Harry’s charity, Sentebale. The charity provides healthcare and education to some of the most vulnerable children in the world, many of whom are victims of extreme poverty and AIDS in Lesotho, Africa. The Spring of Culture Festival is one of the largest events in Bahrain, featuring performances by renowned international artists. The 10th Spring of Culture is being held between March and April 2015, and will host a number of international artists, as well as young Bahraini talents. The festival is expected to attract audiences from across the region and will contribute to the tourism sector in the Kingdom. The Spring of Culture Festival is organised by the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) in collaboration with the Economic Development Board (EDB), Shaikh Ebrahim bin Mohammed Al Khalifa Centre for Culture and Research, Al Bareh Art Gallery, Al Riwaq Art Space, and La Fontaine Centre.
