Race Fever revs up at BIC

Manama, Apr. 7 -- (BNA): A massive crowd of more than 7,500 spectators flocked to Amwaj Islands over the weekend to get a taste of Race Fever and enjoy back-to-back nights of spectacular freestyle motocross stunts. The fantastic display of mid-air trickery and daredevilry featured the Red Bull X-Fighters Jams. Their spectacular show brought together all kinds of admirers, from die-hard motoring enthusiasts to general thrill-seekers and families with young children who were left captivated by the first-of-its-kind show to be held in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The stars of the night were renowned international FMX athletes, including Nick de Wit (South Africa), Martin Koren (Czech Republic) and Chris Brock (UK). Commenting on the spectacular weekend, Red Bull athlete and FMX athlete Nick de Wit said: "It’s always exciting for us to perform in front of a crowd that is watching freestyle motocross for the first time. "The Bahraini crowd is very familiar with motorsports, which makes the connection with them at another level. We thoroughly enjoyed being in Bahrain. It’s been amazing!" The Red Bull X-Fighters Jams was part of Race Fever, Bahrain International Circuit’s nation-wide celebration of motorsport leading to the 2015 Formula One Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix. It was held in Bahrain in collaboration with BIC and Red Bull, and in partnership with Meritas Holding, Amwaj Islands, Hertel and Max Media Co. Through a series of public events, BIC’s Race Fever campaign aims to raise awareness and excitement for the upcoming Bahrain Grand Prix, taking place April 17-18-19 in Sakhir. The X-Fighters Jams was the second of four major events making up Race Fever. The first was a promotional tour across the island featuring a parade of five jaguar cars emblazoned in Bahrain Grand Prix livery and driven by local and regional celebrities. Now, attention turns to BIC for back-to-back concerts featuring British pop sensations The Vamps and talented Swedish DJ Otto Knows on Saturday (Editor’s note: April 11). The live performances will be held at BIC in Sakhir. The Vamps will be the first to take to the stage Saturday night at 7.30pm. They will be followed directly by Otto Knows. Gates open at 6pm. All those who have already purchased their tickets to this year’s Formula One Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix will be able to attend the concerts free of charge. Tickets to the 2015 Formula One Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix can be purchased at the BIC sales outlets in Bahrain City Centre and Seef Mall, online at bahraingp.com or by calling the BIC Hotline on +973-17-450000.
