Bahrain, Russia sign judicial cooperation agreement

Manama, Apr6(BNA)Bahrain has today signed a memorandum of cooperation with Russia on bolstering judicial cooperation, exchanging forensic data, which are necessary for criminal procedures, and implementing judicial assistance requests. Public Prosecutor Dr. Ali bin Fadhl Al-Bouainin sealed the deal with the Russian Prosecutor General Yury Chayka at the headquarters of the Public Prosecution, in the presence of officials from the two sides. Under the agreement, expertise, legal researches and studies will also be exchanged, in addition to holding joint training programmes and workshops. Dr. Al-Bouainin stressed the importance of exchanging expertise between the Kingdom of Bahrain and other countries with advanced judicial practices to consolidate the principles of human rights. "The Public Prosecution has achieved landmark strides since it was first established thirteen years ago", Dr. Al-Bouainin said stressing the importance of cooperation with other countries and opening up on advanced practices as transnational organised crime gets more sophisticated. Chayka highlighted his two-day visit during which he was briefed on the procedures enforced by the Public Prosecution, adding that the Russian General Prosecution was established 293 years ago. He pointed out that exchanged visits would be stepped up.
