TEIMUR RAJABOV WINS WORLD EX-CHAMPION

Baku, 17 December,(AzerTAj)With a win over the world ex-champion Rustam Kasimjanov of Uzbekistan, Azerbaijani chess player Teimur Rajabov in the third round has taken the lead in Grand Prix FIDE Tournament in Elista, Russia.

Another chess player Shahriyar Mammadyarov drew with Etienne Bakro of France, and
Vugar Hashimov’s meet with Van Yu also ended in a draw.
Other scores of the Elista tournament include: P.Leko – I.Cheparinov (1:0),
D.Yakovenko-A.Grishuk (0,5:0,5), E.Inarkiyev-V.Akopyan (0,5:0,5), P.
Elyanov-E.Alexeyev (1:0).
After three rounds Teimur Rajabov has collected 2,5 points, while V. Hashimov, A.
Grishuk, D. Yakovenko have 2 points, S. Mammadyarov, P. Elyanov, V. Akopyan, E.
Inarkiyev, P. Lepko each have 1,5 points.
E. Alekseyev, E. Bakro, Van Yu, R.Kasimjanov and I. Cheparinov each having one point
are behind the leaders.
