Arrests after Germans' abduction

SANA'A, Dec. 16 (Saba) - Several persons have been arrested in
connection with the kidnapping of three Germans, with security forces
are strictly surrounding the area where the hostages were taken to,
police chief in Sana'a Muhammad Turaiq has said.

The state-run 26sep.net quoted the police chief as saying
further, security forces have launched a hunt for involved persons
in other areas.

In relation to the conditions of the kidnapped, police director in
the Khowaln district Saleh Dahmash said they were in good health.

He said security forces arrested two persons having close links to
the main kidnapper along with other involved people.

Efforts are ongoing to release the hostages and to arrest the
abductors to bring them to justice, he said.

On Sunday afternoon, three Germans were kidnapped by gunmen and
taken to the Bani Dhabyan area.

Some websites reported three Germans were abducted by gunmen
from Khowlan district in Sana'a in the Rada'a district in Al
Baida'a province.

Reports noted that the incident was intended to put pressure on
authorities to release some detainees from the kidnappers' tribe who
were held by authorities four months ago.
