Energy Minister receives German trade delegation

Manama, Mar. 17 -- (BNA): Minister of Energy Dr. Abdulhussain Mirza received a delegation from the Arab-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry and reviewed the economic and bilateral relations between the two countries, especially in the areas of energy and ways to support sustainability. The minister thanked the German delegation for the initiative to expand ties between the two nations and said these would benefit the two countries immensely. He applauded the personal initiative of German Ambassador to Bahrain Sabine Taufmann for her continued attention to the development of relations, and her inputs relating to the areas of electricity, water, oil and gas. The German delegation gave a presentation on developments in the oil and gas as well as the electricity and water sectors and discussed upcoming energy projects over the next five years to develop oil facilities and infrastructure for electricity and water services. They spoke about the role German companies could play in developing these sectors in Bahrain. The minister said the partnership and harmony between the public sector and petroleum companies in the private sector was working towards the benefit of all parties. He said the energy sector is the pillar essential to support the economy in the country and the sustainability of economic development since it enjoys substantial support from the political leadership. The meeting was attended by a number of senior officials in the Ministry of Energy.
