Southern Governor participates in UN anti-narcotics meeting

Vienna, Mar. 17 -- (BNA): The Governor of the Southern Governorate also member of the National Anti-drug Committee and Head of Maan (Together ) Committee on Combating Violence and Addition, Shaikh Abdullah bin Rashid Al Khalifa, participated in the 58th Session of the Commission on Narcotic Drugs and the preparatory session ahead of the General Assembly's special session on the World Drug Problem slated to be held in Vienna in 2016. The meeting was attended by United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), Executive Director Yury Fedotov and representatives of the member countries. The governor highlighted Bahrain’s commitment in fighting addiction and crimes by protecting youth from drug as part of UN international agreements. He briefed the session of Bahrain’s initiatives in fighting drugs and plans of the National Anti-drug Committee that include awareness and rehabilitation of addicts. He asserted the importance of Maan programme implemented in cooperation with D.A.R.E and other programmes to protect youth from addiction.
