Yemen calls for gathering efforts to face security and economic
MANAMA, Bahrain, Dec. 14 (Saba)-Yemen called on Sunday for gathering
regional and international efforts to face security and economic
challenges.
In the Yemeni speech delivered by the deputy minister of foreign
affairs Ali Muthana to the fifth summit for Gulf Security in Manama
capital of Bahrain, Muthana said it is impossible for any country to
work without cooperation of other countries, pointing out to the
current security challenges in the top of which are terrorism and
piracy in addition to recent economic crisis.
He also pointed out to the efforts of Yemen to combat terror, saying
that Yemen believes in dialogue as key element in facing terror not
only military forces.
Muthana affirmed concern of Yemen to enhance cooperation with
brotherly and friendly countries in fighting terrorism.
He also reviewed democratic developments in Yemen, saying that Yemen
is currently preparing for the parliamentary elections that would be
held by Arial, 2009.
The deputy minister said that the priories of the Yemeni government
for coming period would focus on reducing poverty.
He expressed warn of Yemen from risks of the piracy within ignorance
of the international community for the Somali issue for long time,
saying that Yemen is suffering from the current situation in Somalia
as it receives huge numbers of the Somali refugees who escape from
the bad security in their homeland.
Muthana called on world to support efforts of Yemen to offer care
for these refugees. The speech also pointed out to the current
situation in the region especially Arab-Israeli conflict, asking the
US administration to support Arab peace initiative.
In the conference, five biggest world countries in Security Council
in addition to European Union are taking part in the conference that
is organized by International Institute for Strategic Studies.AH
