Iranian, Syrian speakers confer on Gaza

Tehran, Dec 13, IRNA - Iranian Majlis speaker Ali Larijani and his Syrian counterpart Mahmud
al-Abrash, in a telephone conversation Friday night, expressed deep
concern over humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

Larijani said that the innocent Palestinians are suffering from the
critical situation imposed by Zionist regime on them in Gaza Strip.

Referring to Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) latest statement on
participation of Iranian, Indonesian and Syrian parliaments in helping
the Gaza people, Larijani called for adopting practical measures to
solve the crisis.

APA formed a troika comprising Iran, Indonesia and Syria to help the
besieged people of Gaza.

Larijani said that he contacted with his Egyptian counterpart Ahmed
Fathi Sorour on Egyptian contribution to help dispatch relief aid
including food and medicine to the people of Gaza since June 2007.

Larijani said that Iran is willing to implement the APA statement for
easing Gaza plight.

Al-Abrash appreciated Iran's efforts to help Gaza, and said the APA
statement has called for support for the Palestinians and Syria spares
no effort to this end.

He again extended his invitation to Iranian Majlis speaker to visit Syria.

Larijani accepted the invitation and said that he would visit Syria in
the earliest convenience.
