Speaker receives British ambassador
Manama, Jan. 14 (BNA)-- Representatives Council Speaker Ahmed bin Ibrahim Al-Mulla underlined today the solid historic relations between Bahrain and Britain. He was speaking as he received today British Ambassador to Bahrain Iain Lindsay, in the presence of Representatives Council First Deputy Speaker Ali Al Aradi and Head of the Political Affairs Department at the British embassy Melanie Scarlett.
The Speaker lauded the deep-rooted relations based on mutual respect, stressing the importance of promoting parliamentary cooperation with the British House of Commons and availing of the British parliamentary experience. He emphasised Bahrain's constant steps in carrying out the reform process and bringing about more achievements. He also praised the British ambassador's efforts to bolster relations between the two friendly countries in various political, parliamentary and economic fields.
Both sides discussed Arab and international issues of common interest, including the need to foster regional security and stability and combat terrorism.
The Speaker expressed regret over the terror acts which happened recently in France, stressing that they are rejected by all as they are in breach of Islamic precepts and all religions.
The British ambassador underscored solid Bahraini-British relations, reiterating his country's rejection of foreign interference in Bahrain's internal affairs.
