South Korea's Kim Yu-na outshined her rival
GOYANG, South Korea, Dec. 12 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's Kim Yu-na outshined her
rivals Friday to win the short program at the Grand Prix Final in her country,
inching closer to her third straight title at the season-ending international
figure skating event.
Performing in front of an enthusiastic home crowd of 2,600, the 18-year-old
danced to the rhythm of a violin suite and scored 65.94, about half a point
higher than her Japanese rival, Mao Asada.
Kim and her five other rivals will continue their competition Saturday in the
free skate in the city of Goyang, west of Seoul.
