Japan's Kozuka leads by winning men's short program at Grand Prix Final

GOYANG, South Korea, Dec. 12 (Yonhap) -- Japan's Takahiko Kozuka took the lead in
the men's competition Friday at the Grand Prix Final in South Korea by
outperforming his rivals in the short program.

Kozuka, 19, scored 83.90 here in the city of Goyang, west of Seoul, edging past
Jeremy Abbott of the United States, who posted 78.26 to finish second.
Kozuka and five others, including Brian Joubert of France and Johnny Weir of the
U.S., will continue their competition in the free skate on Saturday to determine
the winner of the season-ending international figure skating event.
