Men's handball team goes on training trip ahead of world championship
SEOUL, Dec. 12 (Yonhap) -- The South Korean men's handball squad departed Friday
on a 13-day trip to Europe where it plans to play local clubs to warm up ahead of
next month's world championship, the sport's governing body here said.
The 17-player squad, led by coach Choi Tae-seop, will first arrive in Germany and
travel to Switzerland later this month, sharpening its game by playing five
friendlies there, the Korea Handball Federation said.
The world championship will open on Jan. 16 in Croatia, and South Korea is
grouped with Sweden, Spain, Kuwait, Cuba and Croatia in the 24-nation biennial
contest. South Korea finished 15th in 2007.
