Rajasthan hooch tragedy toll mounts to 22
Jaipur, Dec 12 (PTI) Six more persons, who were taken
ill after consuming spurious liquor on Wednesday, have died,
taking the toll in the hooch tragedy in Amarsar village here
in the northern Indian state of Rajasthan to 22, police said
Friday.
Six more labourers died at the Sawai Man Singh Hospital
since Thursday, they said.
Rajasthan's Chief Minister-designate Ashok Gehlot
visited the hospital late Thursday night to enquire about the
health of 40 other victims undergoing treatment at the
facility .
Four persons-- liquor contractor Gopal Meena and his
son Anupam, local retailer Jagdish and a woman Gulabi-- have
already been arrested for allegedly selling spurious
liquor, Superintendent of Police C B Sharma said.
He said some of the victims were undergoing treatment
at other hospitals too. PTI
