Trade Facilitation System efficiency hailed

Manama, Jan6(BNA) The new, highly secure, electronic trade facilitation system has proved highly efficient in streamlining procedures and ensuring expedite workflow through the National Single Window. The system is based on TradeWorldManager Portal and its inherent technology which provides a common platform for integrating electronic trade documents from Customs, Regulatory Authorities, Cargo Scanning Facilities, Freight Forwarders, Shipping Lines, Banks and Port Authorities. "Food control authorities processed all their transactions last month using the e-system Horizon (OFOQ) at different entry points", Customs Affairs President Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al-Khalifa said. The Standards and Metrology Directorate (BSMD) finalised 95 per cent of its transactions, using the new hi-tech system, compared with 87% for the Livestock Directorate and 97% for the Supreme Council for the Environment (SCE), while the Directorate of Vegetal Resources achieved a rate of 92%.
