S. Korean Lee Young-pyo signs extension deal with German team

SEOUL, Dec. 11 (Yonhap) -- Germany's top professional football club Borussia
Dortmund said Thursday it will extend its contract with veteran South Korean
midfielder Lee Young-pyo by one year.
Lee moved to Germany's top-tier Bundesliga from the Premier League's Tottenham
Hotspur earlier this year after signing a one-year contract that was set to
expire in June 2009.
Dortmund said on its Web site monitored here on Thursday that the deal will be
extended by another year, allowing the 31-year-old backbone of the South Korean
national squad to stay with the team until June 2010.
Lee has played full-time in 10 consecutive matches for Dortmund since he moved to
Germany. He is a staple on South Korea's World Cup squad, and led his country
into the semifinals of the 2002 World Cup.
