Braces fashion show in Mumbai to create awareness on orthodontics
The Bombay Orthodontic Study Group today announced that it will hold a 'braces fashion show' and treat orphans as part of the "Smile Torch" project to create public awareness about orthodontics.
Mumbai, Dec 9 (PTI) The Bombay Orthodontic Study Group today announced that it will hold a 'braces fashion show' and treat orphans as part of the "Smile Torch" project to create public awareness about orthodontics.
"The Smile Torch will travel to 24 cities in India, covering each city for two weeks, during which events will be held to educate people about orthodontics," Group Convenor Dr Prashant Dhole said.
Orthodontics not only helps correct teeth and jaws that are crowded or are otherwise positioned improperly, but also improves overall dental health, making teeth easy to maintain and less prone to internal and external injuries, he said.
Beautiful, attractive smile and increased self-esteem and confidence are added benefits that come as bonus as a result of Orthodontic treatment, Dhole said.
The campaign is part of the nationwide health awareness drive about orthodontics, organised by Indian Orthodontic Society, Dhole said.
The Bombay Orthodontic Study Group will receive the Smile Torch in the city on December 28 in presence of the President, Indian Orthodontic Society, Dr Nikhilesh Vaid and Dr Keki Mistry who is one of the founder members of Indian Orthodontic Society.
BOSG will be organising various awareness programmes on orthodontics in Mumbai from December 28 to January 12 next year, he said.
During this period, the Group will hold a 'Smile Run' at Marine drive, Carter Road Bandra, Juhu beach, a 'Braces fashion show' at a local mall, street plays on orthodontics at various locations, and free orthodontic screening for students in various schools in Mumbai, Dhole said.
The Group will also adopt orphans in orphanages in Mumbai for orthodontic treatment to be provided free of cost.
Orthodontic awareness video will be screened at various cinema theatres in Mumbai, he said.
The Indian Orthodontic Society is the national body of orthodontists practising in India and orthodontic students tudying in various dental colleges in India. PTI
