Jakarta, Dec. 10 (ANTARA) - Some 300 people grouped in the People's Struggle Front (FPR) staged a rally in front of the US embassy here on Wednesday to mark the commemoration of the the World Human Rights Day.

The protesters carried banners with texts reading "Stop seizures of workers' salaries and people's land", and yelled "Reject lay-off, Reject people's land seizure, and increase workers' salaries."
"There is nothing to be rejected and fought against, except imperialism, capitalism, and oppression," one of the protesters said.

The protester also condemned the United States as a symbol of imperialist country, and called for the implementation of human rights in Indonesia based on universal principles of human rights.

FPR urged Indonesia under the administration of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyoho not to bow to the US which is now facing recession and has triggered the current global financial crisis.

The rally caused a traffic congestion at Merdeka Selatan street which was guarded by a number of policemen.
