Giving Hands to conduct delicate surgeries for children in Eritrea
Asmara – Dec 10, 2008 (WAM) - Building on two previous successful humanitarian medical missions, a team of the UAE Red Crescent sponsored ''The Giving Hands Initiative'' arrived here today to conduct complicated surgeries on underprivileged children.
The voluntary team, made up of paediatricians from the world's most recognised hospitals, will stay nine days in Eritrea during which they will perform tens of surgeries on children affected by congenital deformities and other health problems whose families could not afford high costs of treatment. Eritrean Health Minister Saleh Meky said the team had conducted hundreds of surgical operations during the two previous visits. He affirmed the Eritrean doctors stand ready to join the medical initiative.
