S. Korea, China to hold high-level meeting
By Lee Chi-dong
BEIJING, Dec. 10 (Yonhap) -- South Korean Vice Foreign Minister Kwon Jong-rak
will arrive in Beijing later Wednesday for an inaugural "strategic dialogue" with
his Chinese counterpart, embassy officials here said.
In his meeting Thursday, which coincides with six-way talks on the North Korean
nuclear program, Kwon plans to exchange views with Wang Guangya on the issue and
other global security concerns, they added.
South Korea, which holds similar annual talks with the U.S. and Japan, agreed
with China to launch the strategic dialogue in a summit between their presidents
in May. The talks are part of wider efforts to upgrade Seoul-Beijing relations,
which were formally established in 1992.
"Main agenda items include ways of improving the two countries' ties and
resolving the North Korean nuclear problem," an official at the South Korean
Embassy said.
