9th MEETING OF EU-AZERBAIJAN COOPERATION COUNCIL HELD IN BRUSSELS

Baku, 09 December,(AzerTAj) The EU-Azerbaijan Cooperation Council held its ninth
meeting in Brussels.

Azerbaijan`s Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov attended the meeting high on whose
agenda were discussions on implementation of the EU-Azerbaijan Action Plan, Eastern
Partnership initiative, Nagorno-Karabakh peace talks and prospects for energy and
transport cooperation.
Speakers at the event highly praised Azerbaijan`s contribution to ensuring European
energy security.
The EU Eastern Partnership initiative was welcomed by the participants who said it
will give the impetus to developing relations between the organization and its
Eastern partners.
Outcomes of a recent jubilee conference of Traceca transport ministers were also
discussed during the meeting, and the participants praised the event as the very
well-organized.
Azerbaijan was described as the EU`s major partner in developing the East-West
transport corridor.
On the sidelines of the meeting, Azerbaijan and the European Union signed a protocol
on Partnership and Cooperation Agreement concerning Bulgaria`s and Romania`s joining
the union.
