Man charged with firearms offences

(AAP) - A man, believed to be the father of a teenager who accidentally shot dead his best friend, has been charged with firearms offences.

Josef Cruickshank, 14, was shot during a sleepover at a rural property on Silverdale
Road at Orangeville, in Sydney's south-west, about 10.15pm (AEDT) on Saturday.
His 14-year-old friend, who called triple-0 after the shooting, has been charged
with his murder.
After being arrested and taken to Camden Police Station, a 40-year-old Orangeville
man has now been charged with four firearms offences: possessing a loaded firearm,
possessing an unauthorised firearm, possessing an unregistered firearm, and not
keeping firearm safe.
Police said his firearm licence remained suspended.
Media are reporting the man is the father of the boy charged with murder, but police
would not confirm it.
The man has been granted conditional bail to appear at Camden Local Court on January
21 next year.
