Japanese football team moves to sign S. Korean striker
SEOUL, Dec. 9 (Yonhap) -- A top-tier Japanese football club is in talks with a South Korean team this week to sign its top striker Cho Jae-jin, an official said Tuesday.
Cho, who plays for the Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors in South Korea's domestic K-league,
is a member of the national squad and competed in Japan for over three years
until he returned home earlier this year.
Japan's Gamba Osaka has recently contacted the Motors and requested the
27-year-old striker be allowed to move back to the Japanese league, a Motors
official said.
"No details have been laid out because negotiations are still underway," the
official said, adding the team will not object as long as sufficient compensation
is promised.
