Iran, Ecuador sing 12 agreements for economic cooperation

Tehran, Dec 8, IRNA Iran and Ecuador inked 12 letters of understanding on Sunday to
promote economic cooperation in the fields of industry, energy,
banking activities and consulate affairs.

The documents were signed in a ceremony attended by President Mahmoud
Ahmadinejad and his visiting counterpart from Ecuador, Rafael Correa
Delgado.

The letters required Tehran and Quito to cooperate in industrial and
mining field as well as construction of cement factory and power plants.

The two countries would also cooperate in the fields of banking, oil,
pharmaceutical, shipping and commercial activities.

At the end of the ceremony the two presidents attended a joint press
conference.

President Delgado was later in the day officially seen off by
President Ahmadinejad.

He is due to visit on Monday the ancient city of Isfahan and the
industrial region of Assalouyeh in the southern province of Khuzestan.

The Ecuadorian president arrived in Tehran on Friday heading a
high-ranking delegation to review issues of mutual interest with his
Iranian counterpart and other senior officials.

In addition to meet with President Ahmadinejad, President Delgado has
met with Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Foreign Minister
Manouchehr Mottaki and Minister of Defense Brigadier General Mostafa
Mohammad Najjar.
