Cooperation with UNIDO will promote ties among countries: Davoudi

First Vice President Parviz Davoudi said here Sunday that expanding
cooperation with United Nations Industrial Development Organization
(UNIDO) will help promote stability, tranquility and security as well
as political ties among countries.
In a meeting with UNIDO Director General Kandeh Yumkella, he referred
to Iran's age-old cooperation with the entity and said that Iran has
undertaken and completed excellent projects with the UN body.
Pointing to Iran's technological progress, Davoudi said that
conditions are prepared for exchanging views between scientists from
Iran and regional countries.
This can help promote cooperation with UNIDO in the region, he noted.
"Iran deserves to serve as the seat for UNIDO and increase
collaboration with it," the official said.
Referring to the West's financial crisis, Davoudi contended that
capitalistic system is unable to solve economic problems in the world
because it does not observe ethical values.
Yumkella for his part, described Iran as one of the founding members
of the entity which is active in different fields and said that the
country plays a crucial role in UNIDO's decision-making process.
Stating that he has toured Iran to see its achievements in technical
and industrial arenas from close, he referred to it as among the
numerous potentials for consolidating cooperation with UNIDO.
