ECO, Shanghai prepare good potentials for deepening regional ties:FM
Tehran, Dec 7, IRNA - Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki in a meeting with his Kyrgyz counterpart Ednan Karabaev said ECO and Shanghai have prepared good potentials for deepening regional and international ties.
According to the report of Foreign Ministry Media Department on
Saturday, Mottaki, by referring to the outlook of mutual ties, said,
"Our two nations have old and historical relations and our leaders
intend to activate Iranian companies' presence in different projects
in Kyrgyzstan."
As a primary step, Mottaki considered Iranian firms' presence in
Kyrgyzstan as a good and constructive step and continued that by
expanding the ties, the two countries' goals and interests will advance.
He noted that Iran welcomes creation of business council and
establishment of an Iranian bank in Bishkek and expressed Iran's
readiness to expand cooperation in the fields of road and dam
construction, commissioning industrial projects and goods transit
through Iran's southern ports.
Referring to the developments in Afghanistan and Iraq, Mottaki
described consequences of the alien forces wrong policies in the
region as "Increasing insecurity and more production of narcotics in
Afghanistan and more instability in Iraq."
Karabaev by expounding the old bilateral ties said, "Our relations
date back to many years and with no doubt the aim of continuation of
consultations between the two countries are deepening bilateral ties
in all fields as well as creating new potentials for future relations."
The visiting Kyrgyz FM continued, "Iranian companies are working hard
in my country to build a cement plant, but we are ready to expand our
cooperation in the field of agriculture, transportation, and
production of hydro-electric energy.
Concerning cultural ties and its necessity for expansion, Karabaev
said, "Cultural exchanges are a good ground for deepening economic
ties and in this concern we have cultural heritage and tourist
exchange programs."
He expressed hope that by strengthening international cooperation
through ECO and Shanghai, the two countries can promote their
bilateral ties, too.
