GREENPEACE ACTIVISTS STAGE RALLY ON CLIMATE CHANGE
Jakarta, 6/12 (ANTARA) - More than 120 Greenpeace activists on Saturday staged a peaceful rally in an effort to increase public awareness about the impact of global climate change.
The activists during their campaign at the Hotel Indonesia Circle in central Jakarta spread unfurled a big banner calling for "Action for Climate".
They also distributed leaflets and small balloons to people riding on motorcycles and in cars.
"By doing this rally, we hope we can build the public's awareness about climate change," Greenpeace activist Ananto said.
On the same day, tens of activists of various non-governmental organizations made a painting depicting the earth in the shape of a bomb that was about to explode.
They also painted a giant dragon that was ready to set Indonesia's forests on fire.
"This is to illustrate the possibility that our forests will deteriorate if we don't act quickly to prevent it," Andreas Iswanto of WALHI (Indonesian Environment Forum) said.
