Los Angeles Angels ink deal with S. Korean pitcher Jang
SEOUL, Dec. 6 (Yonhap) -- South Korean right-handed pitcher Jang Pil-joon has signed a minor league contract with the Los Angeles Angels, the team's official website said Saturday.
Jang, 20, became the second South Korean player in the Angels following
right-hander Jung Young-Il, who signed with the team in 2006, the website said in
an article.
Details such as contract terms were not announced. A foreign media report said
that Jang had signed a US$550,000 contract.
Jang attended a South Korean high school and had served in the nation's army
after graduation. He previously attempted to join a South Korean team but
differences over contract terms turned his attention on the U.S. baseball league,
experts say.
