President meets local authority, military leaderships

SANA'A, Dece. 04 (Saba)- President Ali Abdullah Saleh met on Thursday with leaderships of local authority and of military and security in Aden, Abyan, Lahj and Dhale'a governorates.

He discussed with them a number of issues concern citizens in theses governorates
and employing additional financial allocations there in strategic projects, means of
developing local resources and carrying out development plans quickly according to
electoral program of the president.

The president discussed with them activating role of local councils especially after
expanding their periled by parliament, in addition to mechanisms of coordination
between local authority and security apparatus for arresting elements disturbing
peace and stability and hampering development process and issues regarding
investment and providing facilitations and easing measures before investors.

The president affirmed importance of activating role of local councils in the four
governorates and others in the country, noting current preparations for holding
sub-conferences of the local councils for holding the general conference of local
council early next year.

He affirmed necessity of developing local resources and carrying out development
plans quickly and directed abolishing the central authorization to tax collectors
and giving authority to local council to appoint those who collect these taxes. The
authorization starts in January 2009.

The president affirmed on local councils to promote investment wheal and ease
measures before investors and on making use of additional financial allocations
assigned for the four governorates for carrying out strategic projects serving
interests of the development and contribute in fighting unemployment.

He talked about piracy conducted by Somali pirates and problems this issue poses to
international maritime, asserting on integrating all regional and international
efforts for facing these acts which harm interests of all international trades.
