Warehouse fire kills six, injures two

SEOUL, Dec. 5 (Yonhap) -- A fire broke out at a cold storage warehouse under renovation in Icheon, about 60 km south of Seoul, on Friday, killing at least six workers and injuring two others, police said.
One worker was still missing hours after the fire was first reported around noon
at the warehouse, identified only by its English initial "L," police said.
Shortly after the fire, an estimated 70 workers were evacuated from the warehouse
building but the six ill-fated workers, mostly welders, failed to escape from the
basement, said police, adding the exact cause of the fire has yet to be
determined.
The victims are believed to have died from suffocation and serious burns.
Icheon is home to many warehouses, due to its proximity to Seoul. A similar
warehouse fire in the same city killed 40 people and injured 10 others in
January.
