YAP HOLDS ROUNDTABLE ON 20TH ANNIVERSARY OF AZERBAIJANIS` DEPORTATION FROM ARMENIA

Baku, 05 December,(AzerTAj)On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of Azerbaijanis` deportation from Armenia in 1988, the New Azerbaijan Party (YAP) held a roundtable on “Our historical tragedy: latest deportation” at the Ataturk Center on Thursday with MPs, famous scientists, historians and politicians in attendance.

Speaking to the event, Vice-chairman and executive secretary of the Party Ali
Ahmadov told about tragedies Azerbaijanis faced during various periods of time. He
said one of these tragedies includes forcible and mass deportation of Azerbaijanis
from their historical and native lands as a result of Armenians` ethnic cleansing
policy.
“Throughout the history, Armenia, which is known as an invader and aggressor in the
world, has always showed intolerance and carried out a hostile policy against not
only Azerbaijanis but also other nations and cultures. This country wants to create
monoethnic state and therefore resort to humiliating deeds”, Ahmadov stressed.
He pointed out that the international community remains indifferent to tragedies of
Azerbaijanis, who have been always subjected to injustice.
“International organizations have never given legal assessment to crimes against our
compatriots, even to the Khojaly genocide. And deportations of Azerbaijanis are the
results of indifference of the international community”, he said.
YAP Executive Secretary expressed assurance that these crimes will not remain
unpunished and the international community sooner or later will change its attitude
towards this injustice.
Ahmadov said the Azerbaijan public should strengthen its efforts to make the
international community assess all these tragedies.
Other speakers, including MPs Nizami Jafarov, Fattah Heydarov, Fazil Mustafayev,
academician Budag Budagov, Professor Hasan Mirzayev, doctors of historical sciences
Jamil Hasanli and Fazail Ibrahimly also condemned Armenians` hostile deeds towards
Azerbaijanis. They proposed to create the organization to achieve legal assessment
of these crimes.
