SANA'A, Dec. 03 (Saba) - The Netherlands embassy in Sana'a has
said that the Dutch government has allocated € 1 million in aid for
rain-affected areas in the republic, the newsyemen.net has reported.
A spokesman for the embassy noted in a statement that € 500.000 out
of the donation would be channeled through the World Health
Organization as an urgent medical assistance for the current
program aimed at restricting the spread of diseases and epidemics at
rain-afflicted areas.
And € 400.000 added to € 100.000 provided earlier would be channeled
through the International Committee of the Red Cross ICRC.
The move comes in response to emergency needs of these areas people
to provide them with necessary aids such as food stuffs, safe
water, medicines and tents.
About month ago, heavy rains lashed several parts of the republic
killing people and destroying houses and lands.
More than 91 were killed in the most affected eastern provinces of
Hadramout and Mahara.
Reports issued by domestic and international organizations estimated
material losses at billions.
Yemen received considerable support from Arab and foreign countries
to deal with the catastrophe, besides its internal potentials.
The government has started rebuilding schemes.
