Vietnam-Thailand flights to resume on Dec. 6
Hanoi (VNA) - Vietnam Airlines announced on Dec. 4 that its flights from
Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to Bangkok 's Suvarnabhumi airport are to
recommence as of Dec. 6, with flight frequency and daily schedules returning
to normal.
The announcement was made one day after the national flag carrier said it
would cancel all flights to Thailand on Dec.4 - 5, as local forces had
not yet completed security checks at Suvarnabhumi airport.
The airline has been forced to cancel 20 flights on this route since Thai
anti-government protesters blocked the airport on Nov. 25 in an attempt to
prevent Thai Prime Minister Somchai Wongsawat from returning home.
The political instability in Thailand has resulted in losses to
airlines totaling millions of USD, due to the cancellation of flights to
