S. Korea set to begin constructing second Olympic training center
SEOUL, Dec. 4 (Yonhap) -- South Korea will begin construction of its second
Olympic training center next week in the country's central region, officials said
Thursday.
South Korea currently runs a decades-old training venue in northern Seoul. The
second venue, which will be set up in South Cheongcheong Province about 85
kilometers south of Seoul, will feature at least a dozen cutting-edge facilities
designed to help improve athletic performance, the officials in charge of the
construction said.
The construction will commence on Monday, the officials said, following a
ceremony that will draw the prime minister and Olympic medalists.
South Korea finished seventh and won 13 gold medals at the August Beijing
Olympics, notching its best Summer Games record.
