SEOUL, Dec. 4 (Yonhap) -- A consortium led by South Korea's SK Engineering &
Construction Co. said Thursday that it has clinched a US$1 billion deal to build
an undersea tunnel in Turkey.
The deal, signed with the Turkish government, calls for the consortium to
construct a 5.4-km underwater tunnel linking Istanbul, Turkey, with the Asian
Continent via the Bosporus Strait, SK Engineering & Construction said in a
statement.
It will take 55 months to complete the tunnel, the builder said.
The consortium consists of Yapi Merkezi of Turkey and other four South Korean
construction companies, SK Engineering said. SK Engineering holds a 26 percent
